A PERFECT FRIDAY NIGHT

Roger and Seth have gone out to dinner and then to the theatre to see a play. Jordan is working until 11PM. I have the house to myself with a good book and the wonderful company of Ben and Jerry. Is there anything else a girl needs??!!!

Still Cray After All These Years

I can across tis picture of Roger and I on our honeymoon while I was cleaning up over the weekend. I just made me smile and I immediately thought of the picture of the 2 of us in NYC having dinner. It just tickles me how we look just as happy now as we did then, over 22 years ago. While we are now older, grayer and maybe have a few extra pounds on us I think we look just as handsome.

We have grown so well as a couple. Maturing, learning, experiencing life, love, being a couple and being parents. It is an amazing ride we are on these day and we are trying hard to find the joy and happiness in the little thins everyday. They seem far more important and meaningful than they did 22 years ago. While there are still struggles ahead we have learned how to approach them constructively, as a couple, and keep our eyes on the important things in our life... us!

It ain't pretty but it's ours!!

our garden is growing so well. We whipped this thing together a few weeks ago without taking the time to make it look really nice. So it is a homely little garden but It's ours and we love it so. The lettuce is simply awesome and I have been having salad almost every night with just lettuce tomatoes and some balsamic vinegar. It is so yummy.

We really didn't expect it to take off so we didn't really put any thought into it. Well it is surprising us to no end. That has caused us to start thinking about next year. We are going to make several raised beds and go bigger.... much bigger!! We are actually going to start building now and preparing the soil for next spring. I am getting so excited I might even start to grow the plants from seed. OMG I am getting crazy!!

Herbs herbs and more Herbs!!!

Man do I love my herbs. They are thriving so well this year and I just can't get enough. I have enough basil to choke a horse but that is a good thing since we have planted several tomato plants. I planted more rosemary since I have already used a bunch of mine. I also amd going to need more cilantro. I am just an herb fool these days! Pepper really seems to like the herbs too. It is so much fun. I am already planning on a huge garden for next summer. Getting a little ahead of myself I think. LOL

What an awesome weekend

We had such a great time in New York City.  We were flying by the seat of our pants all weekend and trying not to get caught up in "have to's" and "must dos"  It was perfect.  We covered so much of the city it was amazing and totally exhausting!  Here is a quick run down of what we did

FRIDAY:

Roger got the falafel sandwich from a street vendor he was craving. OMG it was so YUMMY.

We walked to The Met and spent the afternoon in ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece.  Not to shabby for $20.00.

We walked back to the hotel through Central Park taking in all kinds of sights there.

Later that evening we met my friend Nozomi (who is from Japan) for some authentic Japanese sushi.  I can't believe what I was eating.  Well 1/2 of it I didn't even know what I was eating.  LOL  It was probably the best sushi I have ever had in my life.!!  Thanks Nozomi.

SATURDAY:  We woke up early and took a taxi all the way to the tip of Manhattan and just started walking back uptown.

We spent time in Chinatown watching the folks do their tai chi. it was amazingly beautiful.  From there we went to Little italy, went to Old St. Patrick's Church which just celebrated their 200th birthday.  Such a beautiful church.

We found a little cafe and had cappuccino and a croissant and then we hit the road again.

We walked to the Union Square Farmer's Market which was HUGE.  That is worth living in the city for.  You can get everything from veggies, meat and dairy to all kinds of beautiful artwork.  We window shopped on 5th Ave and made it back to the hotel with very sore feet.

A quick nap was had and then it was off for a quick bite to eat and then a visit to the Central Park Zoo.  I loved it.  The only thing we missed was the snow leopard.  It seems as if Molly is very shy and was not appearing for anyone.  That was OK cause I got to see my beloved polar bears and I was a happy camper.  After the zoo we took a pretend shopping trip to Tiffany's.  Very pretty pretty things there.  Someday it will be a for real shopping trip.

Later that night I took Roger for his birthday dinner to the most amazing greek restaurant and had one of the best meals ever filled with spinach, eggplant, tomatoes, chicken, feta, lemon, olive oil and rosemary.  All things Greek.  it was a wonderful way to end the trip.  We walked for a while after dinner to walk off some of the calories.  Then crashed for the night.

SUNDAY:  This morning was gray and gloomy.  The Puerto Rican ay parade was this morning so we wanted to beat the traffic.  We left town with wonderful memories of a fun filled mini vacation.

Heading to NYC

Well we are off to NYC.  So excited.  We are going to fly by the seat of our pants in the city and just have fun.  NYC is the perfect place to just fly by your seat of your pants.  There are things to do and see on virtually every corner.  We are unplugging for the weekend.  See you on Sunday.
